New Collection at ONE Archives at USC Libraries

We are thrilled to share with you the recent acquisition of photographs from longtime couple Norma Roos and Virginia Kaitchuck, generously donated by Patrick Gourley and Michelle Citron. This collection of nearly 2000 photographs documents a working class community of women living in Chicago from the 1930s-1970s. The wonderful photographs, painstakingly labeled and scanned by Citron, reveal the private moments of a close-knit group of butch and femme women having fun at house parties, taking trips to the beach, and having a drink at a bar. The collection also includes dozens of photos from Roos’ time playing in a women’s baseball team, Sparks, in the 1940s-1950s. Find more information on the collections at ONE Archives at USC Libraries here.
