Jennifer Gregg Appointed Executive Director of the One Institute
April 1, 2016
After an extensive national search the board of directors at the One Institute has selected Jennifer C. Gregg as their incoming Executive Director.
Ms. Gregg was most recently the Executive Director of the Thurber House in Columbus, Ohio, the home of the humorist, author, and New Yorker cartoonist, James Thurber. The Thurber House is a non-profit literary center and museum that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Gregg spent the earlier part of her career in Washington, DC, where she served as the Manager of the Victory Cabinet program for the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute before joining the Liberty Hill Foundation in Los Angeles, California, where she served as Deputy Director of Development. Prior to becoming Executive Director of the Thurber House, Ms. Gregg served as Senior Director of Development for Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio.
Board President Greg Williams said the unanimous decision by the board of directors was based on Jennifer’s experience as a proven leader whose track record as a fundraiser, manager, organization and institution builder made her the ideal fit for ONE’s future. “Whether it’s been fighting for LGBTQ equality by working to elect openly LGBTQ candidates across the country, raising resources and awareness for organizations such as the Liberty Hill Foundation, fighting the uphill climb for reproductive rights in the heartland, or, most recently, by sharing her passion for the literary arts and history by leading the Thurber House, Jennifer brings with her unique and meaningful experiences that will help preserve and promote the history of our community.”
Upon learning of the board’s decision at One Institute to select her as their choice for Executive Director, Ms. Gregg said, “I’m immensely proud and honored to be returning to Los Angeles to take the helm as Executive Director of the One Institute. ONE is not only the largest repository of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) materials in the world; it is a collection of stories that continue to inspire our march toward full equality. Moreover, as gains in our community continue to be made, we must seize every opportunity to ensure that this history-in-the-making has a home at ONE for generations to come.”
Ms. Gregg will officially assume her role as Executive Director at One Institute on April 11, 2016. Ms. Gregg and her longtime partner, Cj Mitchell, will relocate to Los Angeles.
