Description

This Stonewall: June 27 1976, image is from the ONE Archives at USC Libraries poster collection. Text continues: “Full rights for gays, end racism and sexism; disunity the problem; solidarity the answer. Lower left corner contains a white sticker with a handwritten note pertaining to the general event details.

This poster was included as a part of the Safer At Home exhibition curated by Alexis Bard Johnson for ONE Archives at USC Libraries. Lexi writes, “The Stonewall Riots, which took place in New York City in June 1969, were led by trans and queer people of color against the police. Too often trans and queer people of color have been obscured and minimized within the queer community and queer history. This poster is particularly notable because it carries a message that is just as powerful and necessary today.”
