Steve Conti, biographer of Sascha Brastoff, will discuss the fascinating life of the flamboyant artist, entertainer, costume designer, sculptor, ceramist, jeweler and entrepreneur. Sascha was acclaimed by art aficionados and celebrities as a “modern day Cellini”. From the 1940s to 1980s, he was so out, he was in! Coverage will include published and unpublished information on Sascha’s life.  For display, Conti will bring a few rare and unusual examples from Sascha’s work, some items that would not be immediately recognized as his work.

Speaker Bio:

Steve Conti proudly boasts being born into the antiques business.  His parents have been collectors for more than 50 years.  Twenty years ago, he embraced it as a fulltime career.  By the end of 1999, his primary focus shifted to organizing and conducting estate liquidations and moving sales.  Steve has been involved in a dozen local antique collectives (or malls as they are sometimes referred to.)  Along with a passion for the work of Sascha Brastoff, he collects and restores classic American automobiles.  Residing in the Beverly Hills area, Mr. Conti will happily speak to collector groups about Sascha or as a general antiques specialist and appraiser.
