Solange Agüero (she/her)LACDAC Education Programs Intern

    Solange Agüero (she/her) is the Education Programs Intern through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture.

    Solange is a recent graduate of the University of Southern California with degrees in English Literature and Narrative Studies, as well as a minor in Spanish. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and is of Armenian, Peruvian, and Argentinian descent. Solange is passionate about working with local communities, education, storytelling, and the intersections between arts and advocacy.

    She is an Associate Producer for the USC Institute of Armenian Studies flagship podcast, Language Therapy with Dr. K. She has served as a fundraising director and a counselor for USC’s Troy Camp, a nonprofit organization that provides long-term mentorship to children in the South Los Angeles area. Solange has also edited and written for publications such as Trojan Bloom, Daily Trojan, Glimpse from the Globe, and ASA Compass, to name a few.

    Solange’s junior year thesis on queerness and witchcraft in the 16th century as well as her senior year capstone project on the queer Armenian experience affirmed her desire to delve into LGBTQ+ histories of the past. These projects sparked her interest in exploring the role of creative practices as forms of expression and resistance within the LGBTQ+ SWANA and Latinx communities.

    She considers the arts and education as crucial avenues for both uplifting marginalized communities and fostering intersectionality. In her free time, Solange enjoys reading, learning new languages, and walking her dogs.
